REMI TINUBU STATE OF ORIGIN AND BIOGRAPHY

As a senator representing the Lagos Central District, Bola Tinubu’s wife, Oluremi, used to be the first lady of Lagos State. She was born in September 1960.

She was the youngest of twelve children and grew up in the Ijebu Ode area of Lagos. In 1979, she studied at the Our Lady of Apostles College, and in 1982, she obtained an NCE from the Adeyemi College Of Education Ondo. She then went to the University of Ife and obtained a degree in biology. She also holds a post-graduate diploma in theology.

Tinubu, Oluremi Career
Prior to entering politics, Senator Oluremi worked as a high school teacher. She first experienced Nigerian politics when she assumed the position of First Lady of Lagos during her husband’s tenure as Lagos’ Governor, Chief Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which lasted from 1999 to 2007. Oluremi founded the New Era Foundation, a non-profit organization, while she served as the First Lady of Lagos. Its goals include empowering women, fostering youth development, and promoting female child education.

On the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) platform, Oluremi Tinubu successfully ran for the Lagos Central Senatorial District seat in 2011.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former governor and APC chieftain, is married to senator Oluremi Tinubu. Three children were born into their union.

Tinubu has received a number of honors and distinctions, including the Gambian Diamond Award for Immense Contribution to the Emancipation of People from Poverty and the National Award of the Officer of the Order of the Niger OON.
