Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, has passed away.
A senior Ondo State government official informed that Mr Akeredolu passed away at around two in the morning on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a German hospital.
Both prostate cancer and leukaemia, which had left him unable to move for some months, claimed his life.
The state’s chief judge will formally declare the governor dead and swear in Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the deputy governor, as the new governor.
